Quick picks
Every pick below comes from a company that names a specific US manufacturing location on its own website, and that sells the model on Amazon. Where a manufacturer makes no origin claim, we say so rather than inferring one.

What the label legally means
"Made in USA" is not marketing language that a brand gets to define for itself. It is a regulated claim, and knowing the standard is most of what you need in order to read a patio furniture listing honestly.
The Federal Trade Commission's standard for an unqualified claim is "all or virtually all": final assembly or processing happens in the United States, all significant processing happens in the United States, and all or virtually all components are made and sourced in the United States. Foreign content has to be negligible. Since the FTC finalized its Made in USA Labeling Rule in 2021, codified at 16 C.F.R. Part 323, a false unqualified label can carry civil penalties — and the rule explicitly reaches catalogs and online listings, not just the sticker on the box.
The claims you will see on a listing, and what each one is actually telling you
| The claim | What it has to mean | What to infer |
|---|---|---|
| Made in USA (unqualified) | All or virtually all content and processing is domestic | The strongest claim, and the one with penalties attached. Take it at face value |
| Assembled in USA | Principal assembly is domestic and substantially transforms the parts | Components are likely imported. Simple screwdriver assembly does not qualify |
| Made in USA of US and imported parts | A qualified claim; must be truthful about how much is domestic | Honest, but do not read it as the unqualified claim |
| Designed in USA / American brand | Nothing at all about where anything was made | Not an origin claim. This is the phrasing that misleads people |

How to check a claim yourself
You do not need to take our word for any of the rows below. The process takes about two minutes per brand and it is the same one we used:
- Go to the manufacturer's own site, not the retail listing. A marketplace listing is written by whoever owns the seller account, which is frequently not the manufacturer. The brand's About or Our Materials page is the document it is actually accountable for.
- Look for a named place, not an adjective. "Proudly American" is an adjective. "Our manufacturing facility is located in Olney" is a place. A company that makes things somewhere nearly always names the town, because it is the part it is proud of.
- Read the exact verb. Made, crafted, assembled and designed are four different claims with four different legal weights. Brands choose that verb carefully; read it as carefully as they wrote it.
- Check whether they make the material or just the furniture. Buying board from a supplier and cutting it domestically is a weaker position than extruding your own lumber, and it shows up later in what the warranty is willing to promise.
If a brand fails step two — no town, no state, only adjectives — that is usually the answer. It is rarely an oversight.
What each maker actually says
We do not take an origin claim from a retailer listing or from somebody else's roundup. Each row below is what the manufacturer publishes on its own site, read on 1 October 2026.
Origin claims traced to the manufacturer's own page
| Brand | What the maker's own page says | Named location |
|---|---|---|
| POLYWOOD | Furniture is “sustainably crafted in the USA”; lumber is 100% HDPE including recycled plastic, with 99% of production scrap returned to its own recycling plant | Roxboro, North Carolina; Syracuse, Indiana |
| Trex Outdoor Furniture | “All Trex Outdoor Furniture collections are expertly crafted in the USA” — manufactured and sold by POLYWOOD under a trademark license with Trex Company, Inc. | Syracuse, Indiana and Roxboro, North Carolina |
| highwood | Runs three production facilities; formulates its own proprietary HDPS poly lumber alongside later HDPE lines | Pennsylvania and Wisconsin |
| LuxCraft | “Made right here in America from high-density polyethylene” at an Ohio Amish Country workshop, with stainless fasteners | Sugarcreek, Ohio |
| US Weight | “The management team and manufacturing facility are both located in Olney” | Olney, Illinois |
| Treasure Garden | Describes itself as “headquartered in Southern California” and a vertically integrated maker of over 90% of its own components — but makes no Made in USA or Assembled in USA claim | None stated |
Every claim above is linked in the Sources list at the foot of this page. Treasure Garden is listed deliberately: it is the brand people most often assume is US-made, because of the California address.
Why almost all of it is poly lumber
Run this exercise across the whole category and the pattern is impossible to miss. Nearly every verifiable US-made patio product is HDPE poly lumber. That is not a coincidence, and the reason is worth understanding because it tells you where else to look.
Two forces push this one material onshore. The first is freight: poly lumber furniture is dense and heavy, so ocean shipping eats the labor-cost advantage that makes offshore production work for lightweight wicker or flat-packed steel. The second is feedstock. The raw material is post-consumer HDPE — milk jugs and detergent bottles — which is collected domestically, so the supply chain starts in the United States rather than ending here. POLYWOOD states that it reuses 99% of production scrap by sending it back to its own recycling plant, which only works if the extrusion line and the furniture line sit in the same place.
The useful corollary: if a category is light, flat-packable or fabric-based, expect to find no US-made option at consumer prices. That is exactly what we found.
Owning the extrusion is the part that matters
POLYWOOD and highwood both make their own lumber rather than buying board from a supplier. highwood runs its own production facilities in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and formulates a proprietary HDPS poly lumber rather than reselling a commodity profile. That vertical integration is why their warranties can name specific failure modes instead of a bare number of years: POLYWOOD's 20-year residential warranty covers splintering, cracking, chipping, peeling and rot, and highwood publishes 12 years residential with color and UV inhibitors run continuously through the material.
Two brand names, one factory
This is the single most useful thing on this page, and almost nobody says it plainly. Trex Outdoor Furniture and POLYWOOD are not two independent US manufacturers you can cross-shop for a second opinion. Trex Outdoor Furniture states that its products are manufactured and sold by POLYWOOD under a trademark license agreement with Trex Company, Inc., out of the same two facilities in Syracuse, Indiana and Roxboro, North Carolina.
That is useful information rather than a criticism. Trex sometimes carries the better price on a given model, and sometimes a shape POLYWOOD does not offer; the Cape Cod chairs are genuinely good. Just do not pay a premium for brand diversification you are not actually getting.
Good US makers we cannot link
Our standing rule is to tell you about the best option even where we earn nothing from it.
LuxCraft is the clearest case in this category. LuxCraft says its furniture is made in America from high-density polyethylene at its Ohio Amish Country workshop, and its published warranty names Sugarcreek, Ohio and runs to a limited lifetime residential term — longer than anything else on this page. It uses 316-grade stainless fasteners, the grade that actually resists chloride pitting near salt water rather than merely being called stainless.
It sells through a dealer network rather than Amazon, so availability is patchy and we cannot reliably attach a buy link to it. If you have a poly furniture dealer within driving distance, go and sit in one before you order anything else. The same caveat applies to a number of Amish-built Ohio and Indiana shops: often excellent, genuinely hard to buy online.
Categories with no US option
We looked for a verifiable US-made option in every category this site covers, and did not find one in these. Saying so is more useful than filling the gap with a brand that merely sounds domestic.
- Patio umbrellas. No consumer umbrella we checked carries a Made in USA or Assembled in USA claim from its maker. Treasure Garden — the brand most often assumed to be domestic — describes itself as headquartered in Southern California and vertically integrated, and makes no origin claim at all. It remains our pick on the umbrella roundup, chosen on replaceable canopies and ribs rather than on origin. In shade, the base is the one component you can buy US-made.
- Teak. Teak grows in South and Southeast Asia and is milled near where it grows, so teak furniture is not a US-origin category in any meaningful sense. What matters there is heartwood content, not country.
- All-weather wicker and aluminum sectionals. Light, stackable and flat-packable — the economics that keep poly lumber onshore work in the opposite direction here.
- Cushions and covers. A fabric brand is not an origin claim for the thing made from it. Sunbrella publishes detailed fade warranties, but its own brand page carries no country-of-origin statement — and in any case the cut-and-sew step that turns fabric into a replacement cushion is a separate business from the mill.
Does it buy you more durability?
Not by itself. Country of origin is not a material property, and there is no mechanism by which a chair extruded in Indiana outlasts an identical chair extruded elsewhere. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.
What origin does correlate with, in this specific category, is three things that genuinely affect how long you keep a piece of furniture:
- The maker owns the extrusion. Every verified US manufacturer here formulates its own lumber. A company that controls the material can write a warranty about the material.
- Parts still exist in year eight. Domestic manufacturing and a domestic parts desk usually travel together, and being able to order one replacement slat or a bag of stainless bolts is what separates furniture you repair from furniture you replace.
- Warranty service is reachable. A 20-year warranty administered from the country you live in is a materially different promise from a 20-year warranty administered through an overseas seller account.
So buy US-made here because it tends to arrive bundled with those three things, and because the material it is nearly always made of happens to be the most durable thing in the category anyway. Our lifespan reference carries the attributed numbers, and how we assess products explains what our scores are and are not.
The picks in full

Key specifications
- 100% HDPE lumber, color and UV inhibitors compounded through the material
- Marine-grade stainless hardware
- 20-year residential lumber warranty
- Arrives flat-packed; bolt-together assembly

- 9.5
- Rust and corrosion
- 9.5
- Wind and stability
- 8.5
- Build and hardware
- 9.0
- Warranty strength
- 9.5
What works
- Fade behavior is a material property here, not a surface coat that can wear off
- Warranty language explicitly covers splintering, cracking, chipping, peeling and rot
- Heavy enough to stay put on a gusty evening
- Washes clean with soap and water — no sealing, oiling or refinishing, ever
The trade-offs
- Costs multiples of a big-box resin chair, and the value only shows up over years
- Heavy to move around a deck on your own
