Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Deck & Dusk ("we") collects when you use https://deckanddusk.com, why we collect it, and what choices you have. It is written to be read rather than to be legally impressive.
What we collect
Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people move through the site. This collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. We do not use it to identify individuals, and we have no interest in doing so.
Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form we receive the name, email address and message you provide. These are sent to our email inbox and are used only to reply to you.
Affiliate link clicks. When you click a product link we record an anonymous analytics event noting which link was clicked and which page it was on. We do not receive information about what you subsequently buy.
Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs containing IP addresses and request details for security and reliability purposes.
We do not collect payment information, we do not sell anything directly, and we have no user accounts.
Cookies and similar technologies
Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish between visits. Amazon and other retailers set their own cookies when you follow a link to them, which is how affiliate commission is attributed. Those cookies are governed by the retailer's own privacy policy, not ours.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on. The site works normally either way.
Why we process this data
- To run and improve the site — knowing which pages are useful is how we decide what to write next.
- To reply to you — if you send us a message, we use your email address to respond.
- To fund the site — affiliate commission is how publishing this work is paid for.
- To keep the site secure — the contact form applies basic automated spam checks, including a timing check and a per-address rate limit.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. Data passes through the service providers that make the site work:
- Our hosting provider, which serves the site and keeps request logs.
- Google Analytics, which processes usage analytics.
- Microsoft, which delivers contact form messages to our inbox.
- Amazon, when you choose to follow a product link, at which point their own policies apply.
How long we keep it
Contact form messages are kept in our email for as long as is useful for the correspondence and any follow-up. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' configured retention period. Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider.
Your choices
- You can block cookies or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on at any time.
- You can ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to delete it, by emailing janet.hoyo@yahoo.com.
- You can simply not use the contact form; there is no other collection point.
Depending on where you live you may have additional statutory rights over your personal data. We will honor any such request we receive at the address above.
Children
This site is intended for adults buying outdoor furniture. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. The current version always lives at this URL.
