How this site makes money, in plain words.

The short version

Deck & Dusk earns a commission when you buy something through our links, at no extra cost to you. That is how the site is funded. It does not change what we recommend.

Amazon Associates

Deck & Dusk is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

As an Amazon Associate, Deck & Dusk earns from qualifying purchases. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

Product buy buttons on this site pass through our own link resolver before sending you to the retailer. That lets us keep every destination in one place and change a destination without rewriting a page. The link you end up at is a normal Amazon page; nothing about your purchase changes and you pay no more than you otherwise would.

Outbound commercial links carry rel="sponsored nofollow", as Google's link policy requires, and the resolver itself is excluded from search indexing.

Commission never decides a ranking

Our picks and our scoring criteria are set before any affiliate link is added to a page. In practice that means:

  • Ranking is buyer-first. A cheaper option that is genuinely better for you ranks higher, regardless of what it pays us.
  • No brand pays for placement, for a score, or for inclusion.
  • Pages where no product honestly fits — safety guidance, troubleshooting, pure how-to content — run without product links rather than carrying a tenuous one.
  • Every recommendation names what the product gives up. A pick with no downside listed is a pick nobody looked at properly.

Prices

We do not print prices on this site. Prices change constantly, we do not control them, and a printed price is a stale price within days.

Every buy button sends you to the live figure at the retailer instead. Where a price ever does appear on this site, it carries the date it was captured, and anything older than a couple of days is hidden rather than shown. Stock and availability are likewise the retailer's, not ours.

Why this page exists

The US Federal Trade Commission requires that a material connection between a publisher and the products it recommends be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, where readers will actually see it — not buried at the bottom of a page or in a separate document nobody visits.

That is why a short disclosure appears above the first product link on every page that carries one, rather than only here. The FTC's own guidance is published at FTC's Endorsement Guides: What People Are Asking.

At the time of writing, Amazon Associates is the only affiliate program this site participates in. If that changes, this page will be updated to name the additional programs before any link to them is published.
