Why this site exists

Deck & Dusk started with a very ordinary problem: replacing the same patio set three times in six seasons, and finding that almost nothing published online said clearly which materials actually last outdoors.

The information gap is specific. Search for how long patio furniture lasts and you get confident numbers from sites that cite nothing, contradict each other, and were written by people who have never had to say where a figure came from. Search for the best Adirondack chair and several of the top results are lifestyle blogs with no topical connection to outdoor furniture at all.

So this site does one thing differently: every durability, warranty or specification claim points at the published document it came from, and where sources disagree we show the disagreement rather than averaging it into a number that belongs to nobody.

Who writes it

Every page on Deck & Dusk is written by Janet H., editor and owner, janet media group. Janet H. is the hands-on owner behind Janet Media Group and writes every review on Deck & Dusk. She started the site after replacing the same aluminum patio set three times in six seasons and finding that almost nothing published online said which materials actually last outdoors.

There is no editorial team, no panel of experts and no roster of contributors. One person writes it, and that person is accountable for everything on it.

What we claim, and what we do not

This matters more than anything else on this page, so it is stated plainly.

What we do: judge products on published manufacturer specifications, warranty terms and what owners report over the long run. Apply the same five criteria to everything — fade resistance, corrosion, stability, build and hardware, and warranty strength. Attribute every number. Note the trade-off in every recommendation.

What we do not: claim laboratory testing, wind-tunnel testing or instrumented measurement, because there is no lab here. Claim to have used every product we recommend. Print prices, because a printed price is a stale price. Publish customer reviews or star ratings, because we have none to publish.

Every product recommendation on this site carries the sentence "Selected on published specification, warranty terms and owner-reported outcomes; not personally tested." That sentence is a feature, not an apology. Our methodology page goes through it in detail.
